To say that the Rusk Eagles owned the 19-3A all-district baseball team would be an understatement.
With four Eagles and skipper Jason Barnes leading the way by nabbing superlative mention, the league's post season list of honor was filled with members of the Red and Black from top to bottom.
Rusk blitzed through conference play undefeated (10-0) to easily claim the league bragging rights.
The Eagles went 19-11 overall and had a 13-game pre-play off winning streak.
Southpaw Josh Raiborn, a junior, was named as 19-3A's Most Valuable Player.
Outfielder Vijay Stingley earned the Offensive MVP accolade while Austin Ballew (catcher) was picked as the Defensive MVP.
Skinner and Ballew are both seniors.
Pitcher of the Year lauds was awarded to 10th-grader Wyatt Gilchrist.
Barnes, in his second season at the helm of the Eagle program, was voted as the league's Coach of the Year.
The only player included on the superlative list that was affiliated with Rusk was Newcomer of the Year Abraham Vasquez, a freshman out of Palestine.
Jadarian Skinner (OF) and Parker Clark (DH/UTL) were chosen for the first team while shortstop Blake Walley were second team picks.
Meanwhile, a trio of Eagles — Jordan Roach, Justin Daughety and Taylor Hamilton — were picked for the honorable mention list.
