Brook Hill 7th graders end season undefeated; 8th girls take 2nd place

TYLER — The Brook Hill seventh-grade basketball team finished up a undefeated season winning the Tyler Association of Private Schools Athletic Conference this past week at the Brookshire Sports Complex on the All Saints campus.

Campbell Fletcher (16) and Reid Hill (14) combined for 30 of the Guard points in the game. Playing a team role, McKade Marquis controlled the tempo for the Bullard crew.

Marquis finished with 11 rebounds and eight assists, and seven steals while adding five-points and Brook Hill’s lone 3-pointer.

A tough Guard defense held All Saints to single digits in every quarter, leading 18-12 at the half, and a 31-21 cushion going into the final quarter. All Saints got a 3-pointer and a team-high nine-points in the setback for the Trojans.

The Guard earlier in the season won both of the Tyler Independent Schools tournaments to finish undefeated on the year.

In earlier action, the Brook Hill Lady Guard fell to Grace Community in the eighth-grade girls championship game, 39-14.

After earning the finals spot with a win over T.K. Gorman, the Lady Guard had trouble with the Grace Community platoon of players, and eight players in the scorebook.

Grace took a 16-10 at the half and allowed only four points from Brook Hill the final half for the lop-sided score.

Brook Hill guard, and Jacksonville native Lauren Eden led Brook Hill with 6-points.

The tournament concluded the basketball season for both Brook Hill teams.
