JUCO Men's Golf: Jaguars finish 9th at NJCAA District 2 tourney

LIPAN —  Jacksonville College came in ninth in the team standings of the NJCAA District 2 Championships, which were played in late April at the Sugartree Country Club in Lipan.

The Jaguars amassed a three-round total of 969.

Odessa College won the event, coming in at 900.

Next was McLennan Community College at 905, followed by Paris Junior College (906).

Matthew Hance led the Jags with rounds of 74, 76 and 81 to come in at 231, which left him tied for 25th place.

Troup's MJ Ghene (79-79-78 — 236) finished in 35th place while Trey Manis (80-85-85 — 250) wound up in the 54th slot.

Another Troup product, Will Langston checked in at 59th (96-83-83 —262).

Rounding things out for the Jags was Branden Burkhart (86-88-94 — 268) who wound up No. 60 in the individual standings.

Medalist for the tourney was Elliott Whitley (74-70-71 — 215).

Whitley is from New Mexico Junior College.
