The JMS tennis team had several that placed in the Longview tournament on Saturday they were :
8th grade division
Adam Verhelle – 3rd place in singles
Alfredo Alvarez – Consolation winner in singles
Austin Pierce & Evan Yount – 3rd place in doubles
Ashlynn Miller – 3rd place in singles
7th grade division
Hannah Roper – 1st place in singles
Gabby Graham – 4th place in singles
Seth Bonner – 3rd place in singles
Ester Montes & Galilea Galvan – consolation winners in doubles
Dariana Cervantes & Nathanial Crawford – 3rd place in mixed doubles
Jorja Johnson & Mason Hendrix – Consolation winners in mixed doubles

Lady Hornets get 21 from Saurez to blast ETCA, 37-16
Tanya Saurez, New Summerfield's sophomore point guard, gave East Texas Christian Academy fits on both ends of the floor Tuesday night, with the Lady Panthers inability to keep the quick and speedy Saurez in check having a lot to do with New Summerfield being able to etch out a 37-16 decision over the young ladies from Tyler.
Athens strikes fast to top Tribe, 80-59
Athens' Anthony Sanders was the District 15-3A Most Valuable Player last season.
He is making a case to earn that honor once again as a four-point play by Sanders ignited Athens to 80-59 victory over Jacksonville Tuesday evening, which gave the No. 23-ranked Hornets their fourth victory of the season over a Class 4A team.

Brook Hill knocks off Bullard 43-34 to win town bragging rights
In a low scoring affair, Brook Hill hopped out to a 23-13 halftime lead over cross town rival Bullard and then made the advantage stand as the Guard (5-1) put away the Panthers, 43-34, Saturday on the final day of the Tommy Young Boys Varsity Classic, which was hosted by Brook Hill.
The Guard moved to 5-1 with the victory, while the Panthers slipped to 5-2 on the year.
McCown has career game as Bears drub Dallas, 45-28
As a young boy growing up in Jacksonville Josh McCown followed the Dallas Cowboys, just as many East Texas youth have done for decades.
On Monday night the Dallas Cowboys had the opportunity to check out McCown, who was making his fifth-consecutive start as quarterback of the Chicago Bears.
And what the Cowboys saw from the 34-year-old McCown could have very easily had a nauseating effect on them.
Region XIV Women: Lady Jaguars close semester with win at Bossier
On a unseasonably cold December Saturday in Bossier City, the Jacksonville College Lady Jaguars warmed things up inside the Health and Physical Education Complex at Bossier Parish Community College by roasting the Lady Cavaliers, 71-56, giving head coach Leasa Ailshie her first-career Texas Eastern Conference victory.
McCown and Bears to collide with Cowboys on Monday Night Football
Jacksonville's Josh McCown will be leading the Chicago Bears into a Monday Night Football (7:30 p.m., ESPN) meeting against the Dallas Cowboys this evening.
The game will take place at what promises to be a frigid Soldier Field in Chicago. Temperature at kick off is predicted to be about 17 degrees with a west wind of nearly 20 miles per hour howling through the facility as well.
Football Capitol of Kansas Bowl: Rusk's Bennett runs for 117 yds. in TJC win
Former Rusk High School standout Chaston Bennett showed glimpses of his old self as he led Tyler Junior College in rushing and to a 47-21 win over Garden City (Kan.) Sunday afternoon in the Football Capitol of Kansas Bowl, played in Pittsburg, Kan.
Region XIV Men's Hoops: Tyler rallies in final half to clip Jacksonville 73-70
Tyler Junior College rallied in the second half to beat Jacksonville College, 73-70, in a Region XIV contest that took place at the Curtis Carroll Fieldhouse Saturday afternoon.
The Jaguars (4-8, 0-3 Region XIV) led 35-31 at halftime, but TJC took the lead for good at the 15:24 mark of the second half when Todd Eaglin drained an uncontested trey from straight away that made the score 42-39 in favor of the Apaches (8-2, 2-1).
BH-Tommy Young Classic: Bullard downs Troup; Guard upset by Grace
Day 2 of of the Tommy Young Boys Varsity Classic at Brook Hill Friday produced a pair of entertaining contests.
