Texas Teenage Girls 12U State Tournament: Troup Coldplay finish second

MABANK — The Troup Coldplay won three consecutive elimination games late last week to earn the right to take on Belton's Punishers in the finals of the Texas Teenage Association's Girls 12U State Tournament.

Unfortunately that's where the Coldplay hit the wall as Belton logged the win over Troup Friday night, thus eliminating the Coldplay from the double-elimination tourney, but not before Troup had scored the hardware as state runner-up.

The Coldplay thumped the Jacksonville JAXX, Grand Saline Explosion and the Nitro of Normangee to earn a date with Belton, who posted a spotless, 5-0, record for the tourney, which was held in Mabank.

A total of 21 teams from around Texas contested the title.

Team members for head coach Terry Reid's Coldplay included, Jansen Reid, Alyssa Flora, Alexandra Flora, Chloe Powell, Savanna Mason, Randi Wilson, Ke'Aja Lacy, Alyssa Hearon, Layla Turner, Harlee Hunter, Julissa Bender, Heather Jones, Machelle Gilliam and Emily Neel.
