The Jacksonville College Jaguars will be looking to avoid going 0-2 in Region XIV play on Tuesday (7:30 p.m.) when they play host to undefeated (9-0) Kilgore College.
Ineffectiveness from beyond the arc led to the Jags losing their conference opener last week at Navarro College where the Bulldogs topped the JC men, 63-57. The Jags hit just 14.3-percent (2-14) from downtown, a far cry off of their season average of 33.3-percent from long range.
Chris Campbell, a 6-foot-3 sophomore, leads JC is scoring, putting in 14 points a game.
Next is Raheem Watts (6-foot-7 freshman) who puts in just under 12 points a night and Derrick Modest, a 6-foot-4 sophomore, who contributes 11.4 ppg.
JC stands at 4-6 overall.
KC opened Region XIV play early last week by recording a 73-62 win over Angelina College.
The Rangers will bring a formidable offensive attack into the Curtis Carroll Fieldhouse Tuesday.
KC converts its field goals at a 55.3-percent rate and drains triples 40.9-percent of the time.
The Rangers are led by Stefan Moody, a 5-foot-10 sophomore, who averages 18.9 PPG.
Moody was last year's Sunbelt Conference Player of the Year at Florida International University.
Academic problems brought him to KC in the off season, however.
Moody has since committed to Ole Miss of the Southeastern Conference.
Another Ranger to watch for is Jamarcus Weatherspoon, a 6-foot-4 wing who has been serving up 13 points an outing for KC.
The Jags will close the week out on Saturday by entertaining Tyler Junior College at 4 p.m.
