EMORY —  The Jacksonville Indians finally met their match on Friday.

McKinney North hit the floor running en route to a 55-44 win over the Jacksonville Indians in a Class 4A, Region II Area round game at Rains High School Gymnasium on Friday night.

The loss ends the Indians’ historic season with a record of 33-2.

The pace of the game was at the Bulldogs best in the opening half as they shot to a 14-6 lead after one quarter. The Indians shooting troubles continued throughout the first half, sinking only five field goals and a 25-14 score at intermission.

No. 11-ranked Jacksonville came out firing in the third quarter, going on an 8-0 run to start the quarter and narrow the lead to 25-22. Tenacious Indians defense held the Bulldogs to only five-points in the period while scoring 12 to make it a 30-26 affair with the final quarter left.

McKinney North standout Julian Pearre was held in check in the first half with only two-points. However, the 6’3 junior lite-up the board for 18-points in the final half for the difference maker.

After a Charles Kendrick bucket for Jacksonville and a 30-26 score, Pearre sunk one of his two 3-pointers to push the lead back to 33-26.

Raybon Riden and Darian Franklin made back-to-back treys for the Indians to trim the lead down to a 36-32, Bulldog lead.

Pearre took over from there with another trey and 17-points in the final period for the 55-45 final.

Raybon Riden and Daytron Thompson added eight-points apiece for Jacksonville and teammate Londedric Taylor chipped in with seven-points.

The Bulldogs got nine-points from Collin Curran and eight-points from Bryson Brown in the win.

Franklin nailed another 3-pointer for the Indians in the final period but it was too late as the Indians fell for only the second time all season.

McKinney North (22-11), advances to play the winner of Mansfield-Legacy and Sherman. Jacksonville’s season ends with the 33-2 record.
