TROUP — Josee Ross showed the Sabine Lady Cardinals who the boss was in the pitching circle on Friday evening in Troup.

The Lady Tigers throttled the Lady Cardinals as Ross fanned 11 Sabine batters and Troup rolled to a 5-0 win to improve to 9-4-2 overall, 1-0 in district.

Ross surrendered just two hits in the game and struck out the side in the third inning.

Troup plated four runs in the bottom of the third to send the Lady Cardinals to the ropes early.

The Lady Tigers got four hits in the inning to go along with two Sabine miscues.

Troup then added an insurance run in the fifth when Stephen F. Austin-signee Katelyn Standley tattooed the ball into center field for a double that scored Lee Ann Lloyd from second.

Standley and Caitlin Tomlin went 2-3 for the winners, with each drilling a two-base hit. Standley finished up with three RBI on the day.

Ross and Bethany Mason went 1-3, with Lloyd scoring two of Troup's runs.

Ross also forged out a double.

Sabine (8-7, 0-1) managed to get just one base runner as far as second base all day.

“I was excited about the way our team played Friday,” Troup head coach Sam Weeks said. “We were loud, energetic and ready to play ball. All-around our team did a great job.”

Troup will continue district play by hosting Harmony at 5:30 p.m. today.

Harmony slaughtered Winona, 19-0, on Friday.
