Troup volleyball squad climbs up to No. 15 in latest poll

Troup advanced one spot, into the No. 15 slot, in the Texas Girls Coaches Association Class 2A volleyball poll, which was released Monday afternoon.

This is the highest that the team has been ranked this season.

The Troup girls improved to 24-12, 13-0 following a 3-0 (25-11, 25-10, 25-15) triumph over West Rusk's Lady Raiders Friday afternoon in New London.

Cheney Cover's nine kills sparked the Troup offensive attack, with Josee Ross and Paeton Nolan pitching in five spikes apiece.

Ross had 16 digs also, while Nolan added a dozen.

Other statistical leaders for the Lady Tigers were Bethany Mason (17 digs) and Carly Dyess (22 assists).

The regular season comes to a close at 5:30 p.m.Tuesday with Troup scheduled to entertain Hawkins.

Troup has already clinched the district championship.
