Troup returns to win column by dumping Cards, 40-30

Lydia catches 2 TD passes in Tiger win

The Troup Tigers were able to notch a winning season by slamming Sabine's Cardinals 40-30 at Tiger Stadium Friday night.

The Tigers took the opening kickoff and constructed a eight-play, 70-yard drive. Davis capped off the final one-yard touchdown. Danny Rojo added his first of three PAT kicks for the 7-0 lead.

Sabine answered right back with a four-yard dive by quarterback, Collin Gray.

Gray also added the tying PAT kick and a 7-7 score after one quarter.

Itachi Lydia was wide-open for a 81-yard catch-and-run to regain the Tigers lead 14-7.

Again Sabine answered as slot-back, Tyler Mustin sprinted down the left sideline from 26-yards and a 14-14 tie.

Lydia and Hearon hooked up again for a 30-yard scoring strike before the Tiger defense added to the scoreboard.

After a nice carry of 12-yards by a Cardinal running back, Brett Martin scooped up a Cardinal fumble, reversed his field and scooted 65-yards to a 26-14, Troup advantage after a missed PAT kick.

The Cards battled back to see Gray sprint up the middle from 24-yards out, and again booted the PAT for a 26-21 score with less than a minute before the break.

Troup took advantage of good field position after the kickoff and punched in the final TD of the half as Marcus Kincade blasted through from eight-yards, and the Rojo kick made it 33-21 at intermission.

A Cardinal field goal by Gray was the lone score of the third period before the teams exchanged TD’s in the final stanza for the 40-30, final score.

Kincade rumbled over the Cards defense for 147-yards in 17 carries and scored a TD from eight-yards. Tiger, fullback, Marquis Davis had two TD runs and carried for 96-yards in 11 carries.

Lydia made three grabs for 119 yards, and scoring on two of the receptions.

One of the main things I really look forward to in the summer is locating and catching schooling bass. Schooling bass are not always easy to catch. Sometimes they are very aggressive and will react to a variety of baits. At other times they become very hard to catch. I have several baits that I rely on, but some are favorites.
