WACO — Brook Hill advanced to the TAPPS 3A state title game by romping over Red Oak Ovilla Christian, 7-1, Tuesday in Waco.
Clayton Engel, Jonah Gonzalez and Quinton Pile collected a pair of hits each as a part of a 10-hit Brook Hill attack.
Gonzalez doubled and had 2 RBI while Engle drove in a run and added a two-base knock in the contest.
Pile scored two of Brook Hill's runs.
Daniel Priddy picked up the win on the bump for the Guardsmen. Priddy gave up one run (earned) on six hits in six frames of work while striking out 10 and not walking a batter.
Kendall Kerns pitched the final frame for the Guard.
Brook Hill, who has won the state championship in each of the past two seasosn, jumped out to a 3-1 lead after five and a half innings.
The Guard then tacked four insurance runs on the scoreboard in the bottom half of the frame to secure the win.
Brook Hill will face either The Woodlands Christian or Bryan-Brazos Christian in the state championship game on Wednesday.
