After Central Heights had tied the game in the top of the seventh, Rusk scored the winning run in the bottom half of the segment to run its winning streak to nine games by edging the Blue Devils, 3-2, in a non-district affair that took place at Eagle Park on Saturday.
The Red and Black will take a 15-9 overall worksheet, 9-0 19-3A, when Rusk returns to the diamond at 7 p.m. tonight to host Palestine.
Jordan Roach led Rusk at the plate with two hits, with Parker Clark and Justin Daughety also hitting safely in the game.
Rusk scored one run in the third, and sixth innings to go 2-0, only to have the Class 2A Blue Devils (13-9) to score two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game.
Morgan Johnson went the distance to collect the pitching win for Rusk. He allowed four hits and struck out one.
The Eagles will play another Saturday matinee this week when they host Jacksonville at 1 p.m. Saturday.
