Brook Hill sophomore Taylor Schultz probably slept like a baby when she retired Monday night.

That's because Schultz excelled at the plate and on the pitching rubber as the Lady Guard whittled out a hard-fought, 5-4, district win over the Lady Saints of Dallas First Baptist on Monday afternoon.

Brook Hill moved to 10-8 overall, 4-1 in conference, by jumping out to a 5-1 lead after three innings and then keeping the Lady Saints in check in the late going.

Offensively, Schultz rapped out a pair of hits and drove in four runs.

Her efforts included a first inning triple.

Schultz worked the first frame in the circle for head coach Anthony Springer's ladies and didn't allow any runs, hits or walks while striking out one.

Junior Morgan Magourik worked four innings in the circle and allowed four runs (one earned) on four hits while fanning three and walking four.

Lexi Crenshaw went 2 for 3, which included a double, at the dish for the winners, while Morgan Fore, AD Kuechle and Hope Cooper collected a hit apiece.
