DALLAS —

Dallas Lutheran's Lions ran into the proverbial buzz saw on Thursday when The Brook Hill Guard opened the TAPPS state Class 3A playoffs with a resounding 19-0 victory.

Despite the game being called after five innings because of the Mercy Rule, plenty of damage had been done to the Lions as Brook Hill had amassed 19 hits.

A 10-run Guard third proved to be the nail in the coffin of the Lions.

Daniel Priddy, Jonathan Gonzalez and Clayton Engel had three hits a piece to spark the Brook Hill runaway.

Engel and Blake Maddox drove in three runs each, while Seth Brasher tossed in two RBI.

Andrew Edwards worked three innings and rang up four Lions.

Brook Hill will be back in action at 6 p.m. Tuesday when they host the Lions of Colleyville Covenant in an area test.

Covenant is 25-6 on the year.
