It's hard to argue with perfection.
White Oak's Jessica Patek tossed a perfect game to lead her Lady 'Necks of White Oak to a 2-0 decision over Troup in a Class 2A, Region III quarterfinal game (single game format).
The tilt got under way after a lengthy pre-game lightning delay Friday night and was played at Whitehouse High School, after originally being slated for Mineola High School.
The move was necessitated by extremely wet field conditions in Mineola.
Patek fanned 12 Lady Tigers in the game as she continued her dominating post season run that has seen her whiff 48 in 25 innings of playoff softball.
The game was billed as a pitcher's duel and Troup’s Jose Ross didn't disappoint.
Ross went the distance in the circle and fanned 13 while giving out four base on balls.
For Troup's seniors — Cheyenne Kirkland, Bethany Mason and Caitlin Tomlin — Friday would be the last time the trio would don the maroon and white uniforms.
This was the second-straight season that the Lady Tigers (20-13) have exited post season at the regional quarterfinal level.
Meanwhile, White Oak (23-6-1) will move forward and will take on either top-ranked Crawford or Rodgers in a regional semi-final in late week.
