The Lady Guard made some school history on Tuesday afternoon as Taylor Schultz threw the first-ever, no-hitter for the Lady Guard softball team in the 8-2 win over Richardson-Canyon Creek at Schwab Field on the Brook Hill campus.

Brook Hill (2-6; 1-0), got a 3-for-4 performance at the plate by catcher, Morgan Brooks, slapping a triple to plate the last run of the game for the Lady Guard. Brooks scored twice and added the one RBI on the night.

Lady Guard, first baseman, Alyssa Eden had a RBI-double and went 2-for-3 and teammate, Ari Assad added a two-RBI double in the fifth inning as Brook Hill chalked up a 1-0 district mark.

Schultz struck out 11 Lady Cougar batters, and walked four for Canyon Creek to turn into two runs after a few Brook Hill miscues aided Canyon Creek’s scores.

The Lady Cougars made four errors in the game and Brook Hill had two mis-plays.

Brook Hill head coach, Anthony Springer was elated after the game, considering the short time he has had with his squad.

“Today is really the first time we have had everybody here because of basketball playoffs and state soccer, and it was Taylor’s (Schultz) first start for us this season,” Springer said. “Canyon Creek was the team to beat in the pre-season, and Taylor did a great job of mixing up her pitches, and we came up with some clutch hits when we needed them.”

One of the main things I really look forward to in the summer is locating and catching schooling bass. Schooling bass are not always easy to catch. Sometimes they are very aggressive and will react to a variety of baits. At other times they become very hard to catch. I have several baits that I rely on, but some are favorites.
