Deva'Nyar Workman of Jacksonville College has been named as Region XIV's 2014 Most Valuable Player.
The 5-foot-8 sophomore from Reading, PA averaged 17.4 points and 8.5 rebounds a game for the Lady Jaguars, who finished fourth in the recently completed conference tournament.
Freshman of the Year accolades went to Malena Washington, while Coach of the Year was awarded to Trenia Tillis Jones.
Washington and Tillis Jones both represent Tyler Junior College.
Other members of the All-Region team, in addition to Workman, include Fatima Adams (Blinn), Adut Bulgak (Trinity Valley), Malena Washington (Tyler), Shernise Robertson (Tyler), Shlonte Allen (Trinity Valley), Kendra Howard (San Jacinto), Yosha Watson (Angelina), Andreanna Jackson (Bossier Parish) and Chy Cunningham (Paris).
Workman joined 14 others onto the Region XIV All Conference unit.
JC's Yvonne Maosa was included in the nine-member Honorable Mention squad.
Maosa is a 5-foot-11 post out of Mansfield, Texas, who excelled on both ends of the court the second half of the season.
