TUSCALOOSA, Ala. —
Former Rusk High standout, Sydney Littlejohn, lowered her earned run average to a team-best 1.71 following a spotless relief appearance on Wednesday when No. 7 Alabama knocked off Georgia State University, 3-1, at Rhodes Stadium in Tuscaloosa.
Littlejohn, a true freshman, worked two-thirds of an inning and retired both Lady Panthers that she faced, one on a ground out, the other via a fly out.
The triumph was Alabama's eighth straight.
The Crimson Tide are now 25-4 overall, 6-0 in Southeastern Conference action.
Littlejohn is 5-0 on the year and has appeared in 11 games. She has struck out 29 batters in 32.2 innings of work and has held rivals to a .179 batting average.
Alabama will be Gainesville, Fla. for a key Southeastern Conference series with second-ranked Florida beginning tonight.
