Riding a 12-game winning streak, which includes a 5-0 start in District 16-3A, the Bullard Lady Panthers (13-3 overall) made their season debut in the Texas Girls Coaches Association state (Class 3A) softball poll.
Head coach Pam Chestnut's ladies checked in at No. 23. In their most recent outing on Friday, Bullard got past Henderson, 3-2, in a 10-inning affair that was decided by an Ashleigh Gillard walk off single that brought Nikki Johnson into score from second.
“That was a big win for us against a good team,” Chestnut said. “We have a couple of more tough ones in this stretch and I hope that we can build off of the win Friday and continue to place with confidence.”
Topping the Class 3A pecking order is LaGrange (22-1), Huntington (22-1) and Kennedale (14-6).
Meanwhile, in Class A, Alto moved up one spot to take over the No. 4 slot.
The Lady Jackets are 13-3 and are 5-0 in conference.
Alto opened the second half of league play on Tuesday by hosting Overton. The results of that game were not available as of press time.
The Lady Jackets posted a 16-10 victory over Price Carlisle in their last game, which took place on Friday.
