21-A-I All-District: New Summerfield's Wilkerson, Turner earn superlative honors

Alto, Wells athletes also well represented



Case Wilkerson and Alex Turner have been selected for 21-A-I all-district teams from New Summerfield High School.

Wilkerson was named as the Offensive Most Valuable Player on the boy's squad, while Turner won the Freshman MVP honor on the girl's unit.

Alto had four representatives to reep black-type mention, including head coach, Augustus Moore, who was honored as Coach of the Year.

District MVP lauds went to Zachris Sturns. Leroy Lewis took home the Defensive MVP honor and Jacolby Whitaker earned the Defensive MVP accolade.

Newcomer of the Year went to Wells' Daniel Ruby, while Dhallon Phipps of Mount Enterprise was picked as the top freshman.

Five county taletns garnered first team recognition.

That group included Angel Marroquin and Wendl Thomas of New Sumemrfield, Anfernee Black and Javie' Ontae Mumphrey from Alto and Wells' K. J. Ratcliff.

Francisco Parra (New Summerfield), Tyarius Hackett (Alto) and Dustin Dyson (Wells) were all voted onto the second team.

Turning to the girl's squad, Whitney Tobias, a Wells senior, won the Offensive MVP honor.

First team choices from county schools were, Carenza Johnson out of Alto and Wells' Carrigan Glover.

New Summerfield's Tanya Suarez and Cristal Zuniga both won second team praise, as did Alto's Dominique Thompson and JaKamri Green.

Rounding the squad out was Wells Lady Pirate Savannah Foster.

    In filling its opening for a head girl's basketball coach, The Brook Hill School turned to Ivan Johnson, a coach that has been has achieved playoff success in TAPPS circles.

    Johnson was introduced as Brook Hill's man to lead the Lady Guard hoop charges Tuesday afternoon in a press conference that was held on campus at the Kyle Lake Athletic Center.
