According to ESPN's Adam Scheftner, the New Orleans Saints have released quarterback Senaca Wallace, who was battling Jacksonville's Luke McCown for the Saints' back-up job.

Wallace, who was slowed by a groin injury, had a lackluster performance against Oakland on Friday.

McCown completed 18 of 28 passes the week before in New Orleans' 17-13 win over Kansas City. McCown passed for 216 yards in that game and tossed a pair of touchdown strikes. He also gave up an interception.
