CHICAGO —

Chicago quarterback Matt Blanchard was waived Tuesday with an injury settlement as the NFL club got down to the mandatory 75-man limit.

Prior to injuring a knuckle, Blanchard was third on the depth charts behind starter Jay Cutler and Jacksonville's Josh McCown.

Cutler and McCown will both be held out of the Bears' final exhibition game on Thursday night (vs. Cleveland).

Jordan Palmer and Trent Edwards are now expected to work under center against the Browns.

McCown is in his third season as a member of the Bears.
