New Summerfield hands Brookeland first lost of season

NS to host Shelbyville for homecoming Friday

TENAHA —

Wendl Thomas connected for a team-best 17 points as New Summerfield bombed Brookeland, 80-58, at Tenaha High School Monday evening.

The loss was the Wildcats' first of the season.

New Summerfield moved to 4-3 with the victory.

Thomas was one of four Hornets to end the night in double figures.

William Ramsey and Case Wilkerson added 16 points apiece while Angel Marroquin pumped in 13.

Julio Rubio wound up with eight points for New Summerfield.

Ramsey and Marroquin were the top rebounders for the Hornets, pulling down 14 and seven boards, respectively.

New Summerfield stopped a late Brookeland rally to win 63-58 in the junior varsity tilt.

On Friday New Summerfield hosts Shelbyville at 7:30 p.m.

New Summerfield will be celebrating homecoming on Friday, with the presentation of the court to begin at 5:30 p.m. at Hornet Gymnasium.

Then at 6 p.m. the Lady Hornets will battle Pineywoods Academy.
