To say the Troup Lady Tigers have sailed through district play thus far would be accurate, but a terrible understatement at the same time.
The squad's success cannot be gauged strictly on wins and loses because, 1. there have been no defeats — the Lady Tigers will take a 9-0 record into Tuesday's match at Arp (5 p.m.) — and 2. the Troup girls have not even lost a set in league play.
The latest Texas Girls Coaches Association poll came out Monday afternoon and the Lady Tigers (21-12 overall) were slotted in the No. 16 position in Class 2A.
The only East Texas schools ranked higher than Troup are No. 9 White Oak and Eustace, who is 12th.
Coach Arden Johnson's crew whipped up on Winona on Friday, winning 3-0 at Tiger Gymnasium.
Players of impact for the Lady Tigers included Josee Ross (10 kills, 11 digs, 4 aces), Cheney Cover (14 digs, 3 kills, 5 aces) and Paeton Nolan (eight kills, an ace).
Caitlin Vickers added five spikes and Carly Dyess racked up 13 assists.
