BULLARD —

In a game that most likely was for fourth place in District 16-3A, Henderson broke open what was a close game at the half and ran away from Bullard, winning 34-10 at Panther Stadium Friday night.

The Lions (3-5, 2-2 in District 16-4A) held a 10-3 lead at intermission, with the difference in the opening half coming on an 89-yard kick off return by the Lions' Trey Hollins that came with 6:51 to play in the second stanza.

The second half was a different story as Henderson scored 31-straight points and outpointed Bullard (3-4, 1-3) 21-3 in the final two quarters to win with ease.

Bullard's first half points came on a 26-yard Zack Aldridge field goal that tied the game at 3-3 early in the second quarter.

That would be all the points the Panthers could muster up until Austin Skelton rammed in on a 12-yard touchdown run with 6:26 to go in the game.

To make matters worse, the Panthers came into the game with several key players sidelined with injuries and then had a couple of more starters leave the game due to injuries in the second half of the game.

Bullard had trouble getting a run game established — the Panthers had just 34 rushing yards in the first half — with Henderson winning the battle in the trenches in the second half to take full command of the game.
