The matchup between White Oak and Bullard Friday night, which was the Panthers' home opener, unfolded as a tale of two halves as the old saying goes.
White Oak came out early and manhandled Bullard in the first quarter, building a 21-0 cushion that turned out to be too large of obstacle for Bullard to overcome.
The Roughnecks led off three first quarter scores scoring two on the ground, and a 64-yard scoring strike from quarterback Dylan Gale in posting a 21-0 advantage.
Roughneck running back Riley Larkin ran in from eight-yards for his second tally of the first half. Larkin later ran the second quarter score for the 28-0 intermission advantage.
Jason McCurdy hauled in a 64 yard pass from Dylan Gale for the second score, and Gale’s one-yard plunge to cap the first half.
White Oak kicker, Zack Rogers was good on all four first half PAT boots.
The Bullard defense made some great halftime adjustments and help White Oak out of the end zone until the final stanza.
Junior Panther quarterback, Conner Mebane finished off a 68-yard drive with the final six-yards for a touchdown. Grace Community transfer, Zach Aldridge nailed his first of two after-point kicks and a 28-7 count on the board.
Bullard was scoreless with 136 total yards at halftime..
Mebane and Skelton kept plugging away to total out Bullard 367 total yards, and 225 of that came from Mebane’s arm to six different receivers.
Mebane, a junior, legged in a touchdown at the 1:27 mark of the third period to slice the 'Necks' lead to 28-7.
White Oak got a 48 yard run from Larkin to set up a score just as the final stanza began.
Gale ran in the final six-yards but the PAT kick was missed for a 35-7, Roughneck lead.
The Roughnecks rolled up 207 total yards in the first half but managed only 257 for the game as the Bullard defense stepped up.
The Panthers (1-1) made some great halftime adjustments and held White Oak out of the end zone until the final stanza.

Answered the final Gale six yard scoring jaunt when Skelton scooted around the left end for a 61-yard score. Aldridge tacked on the kick and the 35-14 final.
Mebane had 130-yards on 27 carries and scored once. Skelton totaled out with 73-yards in only four tries and the TD.
Mebane was 11 of 18 for 142 yards. Jakob Shelton made three catches for 27 yards. Drake Daly had three snags for 17.
