Sparked by a 7th-place finish by Francisco Parra, the New Summerfield High School boys cross country team ended up capturing fifth place in the team standings of the Tyler Lee Classic (Class 3A-1A division) on Saturday.
Parra froze the timer at 18:00.70, with Mark Zimmerer of Eustace winning the race in a time of 16:59.10.
Other runners for New Summerfield, along with their individual placing included, Alfredo Hernandez (29th), Jonathan Trinidad (39th), Angel Marroquin (54th) and Adan Saurez who came in 69th.
Texarkana Pleasant Grove won the team standings with 59 points, followed by Eustace (83), Miller Grove (116) and Kilgore (130).
The Hornets picked up 154 points.
A total of 161 runners comprised the field.
