Jacksonville, Rusk and Troup hosting Texas Teenage Association baseball district tourneys

JACKSONVILLE — Four Texas Teenage Baseball/Softball Association (TTA) district baseball tournaments are taking place this week locally and in the surrounding area.

The Jacksonville Baseball/Softball Association will be hosting the District 8 12U Open Bases Tournament and the District 6 Boys 14U Tournament on the Jacksonville Athletic Complex fields, which are located on Byrd Road.

The District 8 6U T-ball Tournament is playing out down in Rusk, with Troup getting in on the action as well by entertaining the District 10 10U Tournament.  

Double-elimination action got under way Monday and will run through late week, with the respective winners advancing to the state level.

TTA state tournament play is slated to begin on July 22.

Joining the Jacksonville Gamecocks and the Jacksonville Tigers for the 12U Open Base extravaganza are the Rusk Rangers, Rusk Astros, Troup Rattlers, Whitehouse East Texas Heat, Grapeland Sandies, and Elkhart's Rough Riders.

The champion of this tournament will move to Ennis for the state tournament.

A compact field is on hand for the Boys 14U tourney, with the docket containing the Jacksonville Texas A&M Aggies, Rusk Express, Troup Tigers and the Bullard Reds.

The TTA 14U State Tournament will take place in the Central Texas community of Hillsboro.

Eight outfits are playing in the 6U T-ball tourney.

Rusk's Orioles and Rangers are in the mix, as are Jacksonville's Tigers and Bears.

The Troup Tigers have qualified as have three teams from Whitehouse (Red Sox, Knights and Rangers).

The 6U state tournament will be held in Emory.

At Troup, the Jacksonville Giants and Blue Jays will gather with Whitehouse's Diamond Dogs, Nationals and Red Sox.

Other clubs looking to earn a berth in the 10U state tournament in Temple are the Rusk White Sox, Alto Rangers, Elkhart Rangers and Grapeland Sandies.
