Maidens can’t overcome slow start in Crockett

Crockett took a 14-3 lead over Jacksonville after one stanza of Friday's non-district game and never looked back as the Lady Bulldogs prevailed, 45-39, over the visiting Maidens.

Jacksonville recovered in the second quarter to chop significantly into the Crockett lead, with the home team owning a 19-16 edge at the break.

The Maidens, who are playing in the Kaufman Tournament this weekend, were not able to make up any additional grouind, however, as the Lady Bulldogs outscored Jacksonville 13-10 in the third period, which turned out to be enough to give the Lady Bulldogs the win.

Each unit added 13 points to their respective total in the final frame.

Jasmine Parson got her offensive stroke dialed in as she led all players in scoring by tossing in 21 points.

Chancii Scott and Inchantra Kendrick added six each for the Maidens, with Jacksonville's scoring being complete by Sametria Baker's four points and DeMonica Franklin who pitched in a deuce.

C. Purvis led the Lady Bulldogs with a 19-point effort.

Crockett torched the twin from long range, in draining eight triples, while Jacksonville was unable to get a long distance shot to drop in.

The Maidens also left points on the floor by hiting just 38-percent (5-of-13) from the free throw line, while the Lady Bulldogs were converting at a 65-percent (11-of-17) ratio.
