NEW SUMMERFIELD —

New Summerfield distance runner Francisco Parra capped off his junior season by being named to the 2013 Cross Country Coaches Association of Texas (CCCAT) All-Region team.

Parra, finished as the runner-up at the UIL Class A, Region III Championship earlier this month after leading the Hornet cross country team to its first berth in the UIL State Cross Country Championship in school history.

Parra also captured the District 21-A Championship[ for the second-straight year and was the top finisher for New Summerfield in every meet the team ran in this fall. “Kiko (Parra) is a good runner, but most of all he has the heart of a champion,” Kent Willis, New Summerfield head cross country coach said Friday. “He is just a hard worker that is dedicated to improving.”
