Jaguars tune up for Tyler with 42-point victory

JACKSONVILLE — Despite taking an evening off from Region XIV play, it was business as usual on Friday night for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Purple and White strolled to a 99-57 win over the Northwestern (La.) State junior varsity team, in a game that was played at the Curtis Carroll Fieldhouse.

Daniel Skinner and Mitchell Farr led JC (9-3) in scoring by knocking down 16 points each,respectively.

Skinner went 7-10 (70%) form the field while Farr dropped in three of the 10 three balls that he loft during the evening.

Mike Manning came away with a double-double (15 points,14 rebounds) to aid the winning cause.

Other leading performances by jaguars included Nimrod Hillard IV's eight point, eight assist and three steal night and Tyrell Springer's 13 point, six assist and six steal effort.

The Jags also made huge strides as a team in the free throw shooting category, something that has plagued the club this season.

On Friday the JC men connected on 19-27 (70.4%) from the stripe.

JC resumes conference play at 7 p.m. Wednesday by taking on Tyler Junior College at Wagstaff Fieldhouse.

Tip-off will take place at 7 p.m.
