  • Alto.gif Alto, Cayuga appear to be 11-2A-I teams to watch for

District 11-2A-I could shake out to be a battle between Alto's defense and Cayuga's offense.

Regardless of the way it is sliced and served up, the Yellowjackets and the Wildcats appear to be the saltiest of the six-team loop.

  • Jerry Fork 3 30 12.JPG Gone fishing with Jerry Miller

The best lakes to fish and to learn how to fish are the ones with a broad field of aquatic plants and other cover. The more diversified the cover the more bass a lake will hold.

I prefer fishing lakes with a lot of vegetation like Lake Nacogdoches. This lake not only has a lot of shoreline vegetation but three well defined creeks.

  • Bullard-B.jpg District 5-4A-II: A most unusual cast of characters

One never really knows what flows through the minds of those University Interscholastic League (UIL) fellows that are responsible for the bi-annual realignment.

And the running joke around Bullard (and Gilmer) is that these UIL guys must have done really bad in geography, judging by the fact that the UIL sent Bullard and Gilmer to practically the outskirts of the Metroplex to join District 5-4A-II for the next two seasons.

  • Tistian Stickle-1.jpg Tomato Fest 4X4 Soccer Tournament a special day for Stickle

Youth soccer players from Plano, Terrell, Tyler, Longview, Nacogdoches, Palestine as well as Jacksonville, no doubt, made memories on June 14 at the annual Jacksonville Soccer Association (JSA) Tomato Fest 4X4 Tournament.

Great individual and team performances, many shared by supportive family and friends that converged upon the well-known Tomato Bowl in downtown Jacksonville on the warm summer day, will not soon be forgotten.

That day was an extra special one for Tristen Stickle, too.
