The win advances the Tribe (20-6-3) into a Class 4A, Region III Quarterfinal test against Waller early next week (details forthcoming). That match is tentatively set for Tuesday.
16-4A tennis championships to be decided today
A frontal system made its way through the Jacksonville area during the-dawn hours Friday, creating a little bit of overnight anxiety for Jacksonville head tennis coach David Hanna, with the District 16-4A Tennis Tournament slated to get under way early Friday morning.
“I thought we would be out drying courts (Friday) morning, but when we got here the courts were dry, so evidently the wind helped to dry them out,” Hanna said at mid-morning Friday.
Although playing conditions were windy on the rather brisk morning, Hanna said that the tournament, which is being hosted by Jacksonville, went off without a hitch.
Large turnout for inaugural Dirty Diamonds softball camp
Judging by the number of attendees and the enthusiasm of organizers, it probably is safe to say that the first-ever Dirty Diamonds Fast pitch softball was a big achievement.
The one-day camp was held on March 22 at Fightin' Maiden Field on the Jacksonville High School campus.
