Jacksonville Progress
Project Grad. meeting
Project Graduation will be having a meeting for all parents of JHS seniors. The group is planning its big event. The meeting will be held at the First United Methodist Church, Monday March 24 at 6 p.m.
Living will seminar
Prairie View A&M University’s Extension Agent Rene’ McCracken is hosting a seminar comparing the differences in passing property on to your loved ones with a will or living trust. The seminar will be held at noon, Tuesday, March 18, at the fellowship hall of the Jacksonville First United Methodist Church, 1031 SE Loop 456, Jacksonville. Lunch will be served and all materials provided for a $6 registration fee collected at the door. All who attend must pre-register. Craft-Turney Water Supply Corp. meeting
Craft-Turney Water Supply Corporation’s annual meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 18, at the corporation office, 505 SE Loop 456, Jacksonville. The Board of Directors and employees appreciate your vote, interest and support to the water corporation. Members need to be sure to vote for three directors. Member attendance is requested for this annual event.
Al-Anon meets
Jacksonville Al-Anon Family group meets at 6:30 p.m. every Monday at the First United Methodist Church, on Loop 456 and Corinth Road, in Jacksonville. Use the Adult Sunday school door.
Eastern Star cookbook
Jacksonville 337 chapter of the Eastern Star has collected 550 of the best recipes from group members, family and friends and compiled then into an attractive keepsake cookbook. English classes
The Jacksonville Literacy Council is offering at 10 a.m. each Friday at the Literary Council office, 215 E. Commerce St., Suite 215 A in Jacksonville. The class is open to any interested person and will teach basic speaking, reading and writing in English as well as citizenship participation. Adopt a Street
The city of Jacksonville sponsored organization, Keep Jacksonville Beautiful is asking for your help in getting rid of the litter along the streets and roads. Karoke Saturday night
VFW Post 3984 has karoke from 8 p.m. to midnight, every Saturday at the hall, 201 Memorial Drive, Jacksonville. The event is sponsored by Boogie Butt Productions. There is no cover charge, but attendees must be 21 years of age and over. Call 903-586-1306.
Sam Terry cancer fund
The Sam Terry cancer fund has been established in Terry’s honor at Austin Bank. The money collected will be used to fund the medication and the transportation costs of cancer patients who need help getting to and from doctor appointments. Donations may be made at any branch of Austin Bank.

Holy Week prayer
Holy Week prayer services sponsored by the Jacksonville Ministerial Alliance will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, March 17, through Thursday, March 20 at First Christian Church, corner of Beaumont Avenue and Corinth Street in Jacksonville. Join with fellow Christians to reflect on scripture, share messages of Holy Week hope from local pastors and prayer for our community. A free lunch is provided each day by local churches. Jacksonville First Baptist Church will have a community Easter egg hunt on Saturday, March 22. Registration will begin at 1 p.m. and the hunt will start at 1:30 p.m. All children through third grade are welcome.

opens in Lufkin
The Museum of East Texas in Lufkin will present “Pots and Process: The Works of David Hendley with Documentary Photographs by R.P. Washburne” March 1 through May 31. The artists will be honored at a public opening reception from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, March 1. JC Spanish classes
Beginning Spanish Conversation II will be offered as a continuing education course at Jacksonville College from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, March 4 through April 8. The course is designed for individuals who want to continue to develop the communication skills they learned in Beginning Spanish Conversation I, or for those who already have an elementary background in Spanish. The textbook used in Spanish Conversation I will also be used for this course. The cost of the course is $75 for individuals who took the first course and already have the textbook, and $95 for everyone else. Students must register and pay for the course by 4:45 p.m. March 4. Enrolling at Kids First Preschool
Kids First is now a full time preschool with a kindergarten. Classes are available for infants, 2-year-olds, 3-yea-olds, pre-k and kindergarten students. Health education luncheon
HOPE Partners in Health sponsored by H.O.P.E., Inc. is offering health education luncheons the first Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. The programs will provide information to encourage healthier lifestyles. Topics range from physical fitness, stress relief techniques, skin care, anger management, dental health, and other issues to improve personal health.
