Local fires damage home, storage building

JACKSONVILLE — A recent fire damaged a home in the 200 block of Tilley Street, according to Jacksonville Fire Chief Paul White.

The fire was reported just before 3 p.m. Saturday. It damaged a bedroom, front porch and a portion of the attic, White said.

“It was accidental, but there is not a clear cause yet,” White said. “They (firefighters) got it out real fast, but it did do a lot of damage.”

The family was not home at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.

A strorage building fire was also reported during this past weekend. The building was located behind a vacant house at the corner of Debusk and Davis streets, White said.

White said the building was total involved when Jacksonville firefighters arrived on scene. He added that the fire is suspcious in nature because it was not connected electrically.

The fire is under investigation.
