Sheriff's office cautions residents about holiday crime

CHEROKEE COUNTY — In a release issued Tuesday, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department cautioned area residents to be vigilant in watching out for suspicious activity around their property and the property of their neighbors.

“License plates, vehicle and people descriptions can easily be recorded using the voice recording functions on smart phones,” Cherokee County Capt. John R Raffield elaborated. “Dictating the information can be easier than attempting to write something down while driving around the neighborhoods and communities.”

As part of his release Raffield posted a list of arrests made from recent burglary and theft cases around Cherokee County.

“The credit for these arrests goes to Detectives Joey Ray and Jonathan Hughes ― with support and assistance from many Deputies and the other detectives, he said. “ … We really do have a hard working team here, and much of the time they don't get near the credit they deserve, but I guess that is just part of it."
