Candidates set for primary Feb. 18-24 primary election

CHEROKEE COUNTY — Early voting for the March primary elections will be held February 18-28, while the primary election is scheduled March 4, according to the Cherokee County Voter Registration office.

The 2014 Democratic primary election candidates are Vera Foreman, an incumbent running for  Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace; Pct. 4 County Commisioner candidate Kenneth D. Cain; and Democratic County Chairman candidate Craig D. Caldwell.

At the county level, the 2014 Republican primary election candidates include:

County Court-at-Law Judge – Kelley D. Peacock, Janice Crosby Stone, Daniel Boone Childs;

County Judge – Chris Davis (incumbent), Tammy Blair;

Treasurer – Patsy J. Lassiter (incumbent), Murray Smith;

County Clerk – Laverne Lusk (incumbent);

District Clerk – Janet Gates (incumbent);

Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 – Brenda Dominy (incumbent);

Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 – Tony Johnson (incumbent);

Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 – Phillip Grimes (incumbent), James Morris;

Justice of the Peace Pct. 4 – Rodney Wallace;

County Commissioner Pct. 2 – Steven Norton (incumbent);

County Commissioner Pct. 4 – Byron Underwood (incumbent), Glyn A Dotson;

County Surveyor – Carl Wayne Morgan (incumbent), Matt Hunt;

Republican County Chairman – Karen Morris.

Republican primary candidates for state races include incumbent Robert Nichols, who is running for State Senate – Dist. 3, and incumbent Travis P. Clardy and challenger Tony Scott Sevilla, who are running for State Representative, House District 11.
