Council approves certificate publication to fund improvements

BULLARD — Civic leaders voted Tuesday to publish a notice of intent to issue certificates of obligation that will be used for utilities and street improvements, said Bullard City Secretary Doris Crockett.

These certificates “are not to exceed $1.9 million for street, water and sewer improvements, and for payment of related professional services,” she explained.

The notice must be published at least 30 days prior to the council voting to issue the certificates, she added.

Also during the meeting, the council set a May 27 date for the swearing in of new members. The meeting begins at 6 p.m.

Applicants – incumbent council member Shirley Coe, along with David Rhodes and Jason Hendrix – were uncontested in their races; subsequently, civic leaders canceled a May 10 election under the Texas Election Code due to lack of opposition.

Also, the council agreed to go halves on a $9,850 project that will extend a six-inch sewer line from the Robert Walker Road lift station with an existing line on the property of resident John Alexander.
