Reception honors retiring Jacksonville fire chief

JACKSONVILLE — Jacksonville Fire Department Chief Paul White showed off his plaque from the department Wednesday during his retirement reception at the Norman Activity Center. White served as the JFD chief for five-and-a-half years. He began his career in 1967 at the age of 19 as a fireman for the City of Houston, where he later became District Chief. He also worked in San Angelo, Tyler and Irving. The reception included guests from city departments, as well as the Cherokee County sheriff’s office and Tyler Fire Department. White is planning to open Chief’s Firehouse BBQ mid-July

in Edom.
