Chamber Chatter: Wall of Fame induction, deadlines

JACKSONVILLE — Sadler's Kitchen and Catering hosted Business After Hours and inducted Toby Gowin into the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce's Wall of Fame. Robin Butt with Boogie Butt Productions provided the sound system along with his wonderful voice as emcee of the event. Nathan Jones of Austin Bank officially inducted the 2014 Wall of Fame recipient.

Gowin received his award for to his professional football service in the NFL, as well as for his roots  growing up in Jacksonville. Sadler's Kitchen and Catering owner Rob Gowin welcomed and hosted the networking, fun and food event Tuesday evening with more than 100 in attendance.

– Applications for the 30th Annual Tomato Fest are now available. The event is set for June 14 in downtown Jacksonville. Pick up an application for the 2014 Best Homegrown Tomato Contest at the Chamber office at the Norman Activity Center or online at www.JacksonvilleTexas.com.

– An estate sale on CR 1513 in Jacksonville, off US Hwy. 69 South, continues from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. The huge sale is the life estate of Virginia and Arlon Gowin and is located 2.9 miles south of Loop 456 on the east side of Hwy. 69. On CR 1513, go about 0.3 miles to the parking area.

– I Love Pretty Things, 1201 W. Rusk St., is supporting the Jacksonville Hight School floral design class, with students preparing arrangements for customers with the help of their teacher and our staff from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 6. All profits from flower sales that day will be donated to the JHS Floral Design Class to enhance their education.

– The deadline to enter the Tops in Texas Parade is Friday, May 9. The parade will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 14. Line up is at 5:30 at the corner of Commerce and Patton streets. For additional parade information, contact Melody Walters at (903) 284-0010.

– The Jacksonville Rotary Club is selling raffle tickets for His and Hers firearms, a cruise and an iPad. The drawing will be held at the Tomato Fest on June 14 during events that night at Chili's in Jacksonville. The cost is $10 per ticket or three for $25. All proceeds will benefit the Literacy Council.
