Silver Sneakers group receive certificates

JACKSONVILLE — Recently, eight people were awarded completion certificates from Healthways, Inc. for the Silver Sneakers Shape-Up Challenge of 100 miles in 60 days through walking, running and other forms of exercise. This was sponsored by DCS Fitness Center through its association with the Silver Sneakers Program. Silver Sneakers is a fitness program for seniors supported by Cigna/Healthspring, Humana and AARP through partnership with local fitness centers across the country. Receiving certificates were Judy Batton, Deanna Beavers, Brenda Robertson, Ollie Bowens, Joyce Summers, Robbi Nuss, Karen Boykin, and Jann McGaughey.

Included in this group were cancer survivors, people having artificial knees and hips, and one having lost

a lung.

A new challenge will be announced for June 1 - August 1 which will be offered to any person in the community interested in becoming more physically fit.
