Downed trees making travel dangerous in parts of jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE — Motorists are urges to slow down and use extreme caution when traveling in Jacksonville and vacinity this evening.

At least two reports of trees in the roadway were reported shortly before 9 p.m.

The Jacksonville Police Department is on the scene of a tree down near the intersection of Sims Ave. and Martin Luther King Dr. in the northern portion of the city.

Jacksonville Public Works crews are in route to clear the debree at this time.

Also, on Hwy. 175, just outside of the city limits of Jacksonville, a large tree has toppled to the ground and has a significant portion of the roadway blocked, with JPD at the scene now.

More heavy rain appears likely for the area later this evening and in the pre-dawn hours.

Continued caution while traveling is advised.
