CHEROKEE COUNTY —
Early voting for the March primary in state and county races begins Tuesday, and continues through Feb. 28, according to the Cherokee County election department.
Voters may cast ballots from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during this period. Additional opportunities are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23.
Early voting locations include the Cherokee County Elections Department, 138 W. 5th St. in Rusk; the Jacksonville Public Library, 502 S. Jackson St.; and Alto First Baptist Church at 235 E. San Antonio St.
County elections administrator Shannon Cornelius reminded voters that photo identification will be required for voting in person.
Approved forms of identification include a Texas state driver's license; a state personal identification card issued by DPS; a Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS; a state concealed handgun license issued by DPS; a U.S. military photo ID card; a U.S. citizenship certificate containing a person's photograph; or a current U.S. passport.
Election day for the primary is slated Tuesday, March 4, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
