New mayor pro tem named

JACKSONVILLE — The Jacksonville City Council voted for a new mayor pro-tem Tuesday during its regular meeting at the Norman Center Council Chambers.

Councilman Hubert Robinson was approved unanimously for the position. He succeeds Councilman Billy McDonald. The mayor pro tem is appointed every year, City Manager Mo Raissi said.

Robinson is responsible for acting in the mayor's absence at council meetings and other functions.

The council also approved a nomination to the Adjustments, Appeals and Codes. Bobby Harris was appointed by District 2 Councilman Jeff Smith.

A request to amend a plat on Lake Jacksonville was also approved. Raissi said the owners "own two plats, and they just moved the property lines to include a pier on one lot."

In addition to Tuesday nights agenda items, Raissi added that the Jacksonville Public Library recently received a $5,000 grant. The grant was awarded by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.

An executive session was held prior to the regular council meeting for "deliberations about real property." No action was taken.
