Chamber Chatter: Tomato Fest items on sale and retirement reception set for fire chief

JACKSONVILLE — The Chamber of Commerce is closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day.

A ribbon cutting will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, for the National Alliance Mental Illness Cherokee County Peer Support Group's new facility at 410 Tilley St.

The 30th Annual Tomato Fest is fast approaching on June 14. Salsa, dressing and shirts will be available beginning Tuesday, May 27, at the Chamber office. Salsa is $6 per jar; dressing is $4; and shirts are $15 and $17.

The City of Jacksonville invites you to share a special event as we celebrate the retirement of Fire Chief Paul White. The ceremony will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at the Norman Activity Center, 526 E. Commerce St.

Registration for the Tomato Fest 4x4 Tournament is ongoing through June 1. Get your team of five players together and sign up online at www.jacksonvillesoccer.org. Cost is $100 per team with a three game minimum.

The last shipment of concrete tomatoes is in, and there are only a few left! Stop by the Chamber office soon to get your tomato!

Famers Insurance will hold a Community Appreciation Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at  807 S. Jackson St. The event will include music, food, refreshments, family fun and drawings.
