EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ — Seattle scored the first 36 points in Super Bowl XLVIII Sunday night to earn a dominating, 43-8, win over the Denver Broncos.
The Super Bowl victory was the first in Seahawk franchise history and the first time the game was played in the New York Metropolitan Area (Met Life Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ).
Seattle, the NFC champion, led 22-0 at halftime, with the AFC-champion Broncos never able to pose a threat.
Denver turned the ball over four times (two interceptions, two fumbles lost) while the Seahawks played an error-free game.
The game was one of the most lopsided in Super Bowl history.
Denver did not get on the scoreboard until late in the third quarter when the final outcome had already been decided.
Each team entered the game with a 13-3 record.
