Slight error printed on ballots

CHEROKEE COUNTY — A Cherokee County court-at-law candidate's name is misspelled on the Republican Primaries' ballot, according to a Monday press release.

The release said Kelley Peacock, who is running against Janice Crosby Stone and Dan Childs for the court-at-law seat vacated by Craig Fletcher, is spelled "Kelly Peacock" on the ballot.

When contacted about the second "e" being left out of her name, Peacock told election officials not to reprint the ballots. It would have cost approximately $7,000 to reprint the ballots, the release said.

“When you have been around and people know you, one less ‘e’ in your first name doesn’t change the trust you have built. I rather save the taxpayers their hard-earned money," Peacock said.

The Republican primary election is set for March 4. A candidate's forum is set for 6 p.m. tonight at the Jacksonville College Chapel.
