Chamber promotes education programs at state conference

JACKSONVILLE — The Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce Education Development Division went on the road to promote programs benefiting Jacksonville ISD.  

Pam Anderson, Education Development Division Chair and Peggy Renfro, Chamber President were one of many speakers at the TASA (Texas Association of School Administrators) Midwinter Conference held in Austin.

Pam Anderson prepared a presentation on communities supporting education: Beyond PTA/PTO promoting the various programs.   A power point presentation highlighted programs such as Adopt-A-School, Leadership Institute and JC3 Committees of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce.  Some of the programs discussed under the umbrella of the Adopt-A-School Committee were job shadowing, scholarships, sponsoring field trips, essay contest as well as the various fund raisers organized by the committee members.  Some of the Adopt-A-School fund raisers include Tomato Fest booth, Harry’s Building Materials donation, Taste of Jacksonville Goody Baskets and other in-kind donations from various


The Leadership Institute has a current high school student enrolled in the 9 month program that meets once a month learning about the community and so much more.  JC3 is the newest committee seeking ways to assist with higher education entities here in Jacksonville.

“This was a great opportunity for the Chamber to explain how the partnership between the Education Development Division and the Jacksonville ISD has benefiting so many almost 20 years, announced Peggy Renfro. “The Adopt-A-School Committee alone has raised over $100,000 for Jacksonville ISD assisting with their programs.”  Pam Anderson added, “It is so exciting to share what is working so well in Jacksonville thanks to the support from the Chamber, JISD, the higher education entities, and the community at large.  I am honored and humbled to serve and share our communities’ successes.”
