Kilgore College will present a “Safety Procedures for Childcare Facilities” course Saturdays, March 22 and March 29 in the Bert E. Woodruff Adult Education Center in Kilgore.
Sessions run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with students earning 12 hours of Continuing Education credits from Kilgore College. Materials will be provided.
Offered through the KC Workforce Development’s Risk Management Institute, the free safety course is funded by a grant from Texas Mutual Insurance Company.
It is designed for child care professionals, according to a release from the college, and focuses on topics related to the safety and health of young children.
The class will review materials in the “Minimum Standards for Child Care Facilities Manual,” and discussions will focus on Shaken Baby Syndrome, SIDS, insect and food allergies and playground security.
The class will be offered again from from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday evenings for two weeks, on April 1, April 3, April 8 and April 10.
Registration deadline is Friday, March 28, with advanced registration set for Thursday, March 20.
