A 42-year-old man who was discovered dead Friday morning in front of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church died of a self-inflicted knife wound to his neck, a justice of the peace confirmed Monday.
When asked to release the information under the Texas Open Records Act, Cherokee County Pre-cinct 4 Justice of the Peace Judge Vera Fore-man confirmed the man used a blade of some sort to cut his own neck, which led directly to his death.
Members of the Rusk Police Department, including Rusk Police Chief Jamie Campbell, were unavailable for comment Monday.
