Nabi ends 6-year run as Jacksonville College women's basketball coach

Accepts promotion to Academic Dean at JC

JACKSONVILLE — Nabi, who has served the past six years as head women's basketball coach at the school, will soon be taking over as Academic Dean, filling a postion that was vacated by Tam Clark late last year.

"I coached my last game today at Jacksonville College," Nabi said. "It was a great season. We were predicted to finish in last place in the conference and we went all the way to the semi-finals of the conference tournament. It's been a great six-year run as women's basketball coach at Jacksonville College."

Nabi said that he will continue to be responsible for compliance in the athletic department, hiring of athletic department personnel and will also handle budgeting for the department.

"Jacksonville College and Dr. Mike (Smith) has put a lot of trust in me and I appreciate the confidence that everyone has in my ability to perfrom my new duties," Nabi said.

Nabi said that no decision has been made at this time as to who his replacement will be, but that he expects Associate Head Coach, Leasa Ailshie, to receive strong consideration for the job.

Jacksonville College will be observiong Spring Break next week.

Once classes resume on Mar. 18 more information is expected to be released regarding the women's basketball coaching vacancy, according to Nabi.
